This month we posted a request for stories on our facebook page and we got some inspiration! After sifting through all the great stories we found one that really jumped out. It wasn’t even directly from a participant who wanted to be featured, but from a friend of a fellow Mud Runner (Thanks Tim!).
He told us the story of his buddy Eric who over the course of the past year has lost over 70 pounds in an effort to set a good example for his five-year-old son and, at the time of this edition of Dirty Laundry, his soon to be second son. And in speaking with Eric he told us how The Original Mud Run has served as a fitness goal and something to work toward to keep him inspired.
In leading up to his first Mud Run Eric dropped 63 pounds (Spring 2010 in DFW) and finished the course in 2 hours and 12 minutes. And as Tim told us, Eric did it not only for himself but for his sons’ if they should ever want to something like The Original Mud Run. Ten more pounds and seven months later Eric returned for DFW’s Fall 2010 event and crushed the course in 1 hour and 50 minutes, shaving 22 minutes off his initial time.
Already registered for the Spring 2011 Eric is looking to drop 20 more pounds and cross the finish line in 1 hour and 30 minutes and we don’t doubt that he will accomplish that goal.
